Update: Mass. secretary of state wants to know more about TD Ameritrade breach

More news on the TD Ameritrade breach. William Francis Galvin, Massachusetts secretary of state, sent a letter to officials at the Omaha-based brokerage this week, asking for more information on the breach that compromised the personal information of 6.3 million investors.

Specifically, Galvin wants a more thorough description of the breach and server flaws and copies of all complaints from Bay State residents, according to this report in the Boston Globe.

Keep in mind that victims should have an eye out for phishing schemes taking advantage of the breach.

Some, including New York lawyer Scott Kamber, believe that Ameritrade knew about the breach – which Carl Banzhof, VP and CTO at McAfee, said was likely conducted using SQL injection tactics – for almost a year.

Hopefully, this will shed a little more light on the incident.
